Ka-Ro TRITON Star TX25: Price aggressive System on Module with ARM9 processor for under 60 euros

Aachen, 14th July 2009 – Ka-Ro's System on Module family featuring Freescale’s i.MX applications processors continues to grow. Joining the two other TX modules, TX27 and TX37, the full service provider based in Aachen, announced today their new module TRITON Star TX25. Centred around the recently announced Freescale i.MX25 applications processor, Ka-Ro has created an inexpensive module which is ideally suited for embedded solutions and applications, for example, in the automation segment. Besides the high performance and low power characteristics which the new module offers, Ka-Ro's latest addition to the TX family is destined to attract attention in the market due to its low price of 59 euros.

The low cost, fully-featured TRITON Star TX25 module excels with a feature set that is expected in modules at a much higher price. The TX25 comes with an extended temperature range of -40° C / +85° C and consequently is designed for applications which are exposed to extreme hot or cold conditions. Additionally, the standard version of the module is equipped with both Windows® Embedded CE 6.0 and Linux operating systems, which gives emphasis on the strong price to performance ratio of the module.

“The global collaboration between Ka-Ro and Freescale benefits a wide variety of customers within the industrial segment,” said Jean-Louis Dolmeta, EMEA Product Manager, Networking and Multimedia Group at Freescale Semiconductor. ""This close alliance between our companies during the development phase of the TX25 will result in helping our customers to reduce their time to market when building their next great product."

Ekkehard Meurers, CFO of Ka-Ro electronics, explains the Ka-Ro strategy: "Freescale's introduction of the i.MX25 processor has put us in a strong position to target existing solutions of our competitors. Our own manufacturing of the new Ka-Ro System-on-Module, TRITON Star TX25, with the state-of-the-art Universal Quadris pick-and-place machine enables us to produce top quality products at an extremely attractive price and we are sure this will make an impact on the market."

The Ka-Ro TRITON Star TX25 module is equipped with a fully-fledged ARM9 processor, which has 128 MB Flash and 64 MB SDRAM and is clocked at 400 MHz. It provides High Speed USB 2.0 OTG and Full Speed USB 2.0 Host. Additionally, the TX25 module supplies a whole range of connectors: Along with the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connector and the integrated LCD controller, the following peripheral interfaces are available; UARTs,  card, I2C, CAN, keypad, Digital Audio (AC97/I2S) and an interface for a CMOS camera

The Ka-Ro development environment for the TRITON Star TX25 (Starter-Kit V) is already available at the price of 599 euros.
