MMC’s Altalaia board
Aachen, 11th June 2010 – The Aachen-based electronic specialist Ka-Ro electronics has announced a new cooperation with the Spanish distributor and solution provider Media Microcomputer (MMC). With immediate effect selected Ka-Ro products are available at MMC, based in Barcelona, thus extending Ka-Ro’s widening reach into the European market.
In the Spanish market, Media MicroComputer has successfully positioned itself as a provider of added-value solutions. Within MMC’s business model the integration and development services, which MMC carries out, play a major role. Additionally MMC acts as a technology assessor.
MMC Managing Director Mario Manzanero comments on the Ka-Ro addition to the MMC portfolio: “MMC is exclusively active in the market for industrial electronic systems and aims to always bring together and offer its customers an optimum of technologies for their specific solutions. In line with this, we are happy to include Ka-Ro‘s Computer on Modules into our solution portfolio and see them as an excellent addition in way of price/performance and low power qualities.“
The new cooperation focuses on Ka-Ro Computer on Modules with integrated Freescale i.MX processors along with modules based on Marvell processors. MMC, who has engaged a further engineer dedicated to the Ka-Ro products, is already integrating Ka-Ro modules in projects such as gaming computers based on the Ka-Ro TX51, Digital Signage projects with the Ka-Ro TX25 and portable gaming machines both with the TX25 with WinCE OS. A concrete example of the cooperation is MMC’s development of the Altalaia board which targets these sectors.
Ekkehard Meurers, CFO of Ka-Ro, says: “MMC immediately had integration opportunities and target customers for the Ka-Ro product range which underlines the great potential that our COMs offer. We’re happy to introduce these via MMC to the Spanish market.”
